Fits easily in my refrigerator, height of milk container May 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The good thing about the 51 oz pitcher is that it is the same height as a milk carton, so it is not too tall to fit in my refrigerator. It is a nice fancy tea pitcher, with a flip up lid, and a easy to pour spout that does not spill the tea.
Mine did come with instructions, and for the first brew, I followed the instructions and put seven (7) tablespoons of tea in the chamber. Gag! the tea was way too strong. After some experimentation I have settled on 2 Tablespoons and 3 minutes of steeping to make sure we don't get the bitter taste.
Bodum Ceylon 51-Ounce Ice Tea Maker with Filter March 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this item because it makes brewing iced tea from loose leaf tea quick and simple, the only only thing I didn't care for on this item was the instructions which tell you in my opinion to add too much tea but that's just a preference once you brew on your own you can experiment with brewing times etc. to get the taste that's right for you. I also suggest pouring the hot water directly on top of the tea in the strainer rather then pouring in the larger section, this will allow for a more efficient steep.
Lower-quality Bodum product December 9, 2007 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I ordered this as a gift, and I was glad I pulled it out of the box before gifting it -- it looks like a cheap, boring water container. The plastic seemed of low quality, and the box was torn and plastered with a large white barcode sticker. Granted, I didn't get to use the product, so I can't speak to its performance there, but I would not recommend this as a gift to anyone who hasn't clearly requested it. I rarely return items to Amazon, but this one was sent back immediately. And I usually like Bodum products...
I have had no problems September 5, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was tired of the hassle of brewing one cup at a time and then icing it. With this pitcher I can make a lot and then let it sit in the fridge. I pour half a pitcher of hot water in and let it steep just as the directions say. Note that they say, "hot", not boiling. My plastic has never warped, but I also wash it by hand instead of in the dishwasher and maybe that has something to do with it. I do get some dregs and tea leaves in the tea, but that happens with every other tea filter I have, too, and I take it as a given. For the price I think I've got a pretty good deal, and I think it looks nice, too.
I LOVE it! July 29, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
What more can I say? I think this thing is the best. Prior to this I was using cheesecloth to keep my loose leaf tea contained while making sun tea. It was a pain. With the Bodum Ice Tea Maker, it's so easy! I just pop in the tea leaves, add the water, and put the whole thing out in the sun. A few hours later, sun tea! Then I put a few springs of fresh mint in the filter side, add some sugar and put the whole thing in the fridge. Or, just pour it over ice. Really happy with this purchase.
