I have a huge treasure chest full of cherished memories of my late mother. One of the many things we have in common is our love for See's chocolates! We both loved these heavenly treats, which we share as "midnight snacks" while watching late night TV shows or DVDs of classic movies that we both loved - mostly Audrey Hepburn's, whom we share an admiration for. She was to our eyes an icon of beauty, elegance and style. One good thing about my late mother's and my love for chocolates is ... we never had weight problems, we never had to worry about gaining weight no matter how we indulge ourselves with these lip-smacking and delectable treats. My sweet tooth always had me craving for See's chocolates and eating these treats come with sweet memories of my dear mother.
When it comes to chocolates, darker is better! So naturally, my favorites are dark chocolates since they are healthier and have fewer calories. Try these tempting morsels and let your taste buds judge.

I grew up in SoCal, so I have extensive See's experience (lucky me)! In my opinion, Nuts & Chews are the only way to go. The beauty of this selection is that you don't have to do that thing where you take a tiny bite first, wondering if you're going to like it or not. Every one is perfect! No icky raspberry flavored goo or weird hazelnut paste (if you're into those things don't buy these), just wonderful variations of chocolate, nuts and caramel. Yumm!

When I was growing up I had the good fortune of living in the midwest (Minneapolis) for five years. They had Fannie Farmer Chocolates back there and she made the finest candy you could get.
Then we moved to California and Fannie's sister must be Mary See.

I grew up in the SF Bay Area, and always enjoyed Mary See's best, but being a home brand, I never fully appreciated it. Last year I bought some friends (and myself) highly prized chocolates from Richard Donnelly. It was so good that only two of us realized how good it was. My mother liked it, but said next time, make it See's.
And I couldn't agree more! The Donnelly chocolate IS superb, but it is so special (and expensive) that it's almost hard to enjoy. I've gone back to giving See's (always Nuts and Chews) to my friends, and the local upscale mall here in Charlotte has a See's kiosk during Christmas season (Big Trouble). There is just nothing better and I always come out a hero!
