BEST GIFT ITEM OF THE YEAR November 18, 2008 I bought this amazing flowering tea set for my child's teacher as a holiday gift. The kids are all so amazed with the tea flower blooming and the flavor that they are now having flowering tea day at school. I'm going to get some great video and post a video review.
I love the quality of the teapot and the kids love watching the flower opening. They are soo much fun to watch.
Great great great product.
Great but not as sturdy as one would think November 5, 2008 So we owned this teapot for a total of 3 days. And we enjoyed it the two times we used it! It's a decent size, and the flowering tea looks beautiful in it. It's not a bad price for the teas and the pot together.
But as I previously foreshadowed, it fell off a counter onto slightly padded kitchen floor and shattered into a million pieces! Granted this was our fault, but the fragility amazed me, considering the type of glass.
I'll probably buy a replacement if it gets a little cheaper somewhere, because I really want a clear pot, and this would probably be the best bet you can find at least in the U.S. And we'll definitely be much more careful. I just wish it was made of something with more durability, like other glass products we have.
Beautiful Tea October 31, 2008 The tea is delicious, and the presentation is gorgeous. Best price on the web.
Flowering tea & Pot October 22, 2008 I purchased this as a gift. It is exactly what I thought it would be.
Infuser very poorly designed September 26, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The teapot is sturdier than I expected and has survived a lot of use, but I would never buy it again. Sure, clear glass is a nice medium if you want to use tea flowers like the ones that come in the set, but the glass infuser is a disaster. The tea is supposed to brew through four sets of slits in the bottom, which get clogged easily, are difficult to clean, and don't allow enough water to flow through. The tiny slits make it hard to fill the teapot because the infuser can't drain into the pot fast enough. To fill the teapot with tea in the infuser, I have to pour in water, wait as it slowly drains through into the pot out of the infuser, pour in more water, wait, pour in more water and wait, and then pour in the final bit of water. When I try to pour the tea, the lid and infuser fall out, so I have to hold them on or remove them. Tea leaves get wedged in the slits and have a hard time getting them back out when I wash it.
The one big upside is that it is very lightweight for a teapot this size. Plus, if you generally use tea flowers or bagged tea, this teapot will work just fine for you. It really is dishwasher safe even on the bottom rack. It will also survive rapid temperature changes, like dropping a bunch of ice into hot tea.
