Two walls of clear glass with an air layer in-between not only keep drinks cold--or hot--but prevent condensation from forming on the outside. So, a brisk Long Island tea or steamy Irish coffee feels just right, no matter the temperature. And coasters won't be needed, either. Winner of the prestigious European iF Design Award, the mouth-blown Assam glass exhibits Bodum's flair for the modern. Each 8-3/4-inch glass rises straight up like a tumbler, then flares at the top to a diameter of 3-3/4 inches. Mouth-blown of borosilicate glass, which is quite a bit thinner yet much more durable than regular glass, the two 20-ounce Assam glasses in this set are safe for both the microwave and dishwasher, resist temperature swings, and resist scratching and dulling. Care should be taken when placing ice cubes in an empty glass, and metal spoons for stirring are discouraged. --Ann Bieri Editor's Note: Because each glass is mouth-blown, each one may have slight differences in height, thickness, and weight. If I had read the reviews prior to purchase I might not have bought these glasses. But now I have 8. Ha! (I tend to buy all the colors of "whatever" also. Bad habit.) Anyhow, the glasses are beautiful and I washed half of them in the upper level of the dishwasher, half by hand, and all came out fine. I WILL, however, take heed to those who have had these break ... especially good idea is putting the liquid in before adding some ice cubes. I love nice glassware and so it's worth it to me to have a non-dripper that looks as good as these glasses do.

I read all of the review warnings and my Bodum glasses also suffered the same demise-which is a good thing really, because treating them like priceless heirlooms was making me mental.
I then found glasses called Strong Double Wall Thermo glasses on Amazon that were cheaper and stronger than the Bodum's..They are heavier and may sweat just a bit more than the Bodum glasses and the 14 oz. really holds about 11.5 but what a relief to not have to panic everytime you use a double wall glass.Cheers.

I have had the Ice Tea glasses for a few months now and love them. Living in a high humidity area and disliking plastic glasses these have been the perfect answer. Reading what others said about ice I have had no problems putting in a 1/2 glass of liquid and then adding ice and the rest of the liquid. I wash them on the top shelf of the dishwasher with no problem. We love them so much I just ordered more.

I bought these for my mother's birthday because she has always liked double walled cups; unfortunately they weren't out of the box 5 minutes before one was broke and what a shame considering the cost!!

I bought 4 of these glasses and all 4 have now broken. All of them had the inside layer of glass crack, shatter, break which is VERY DANGEROUS if you are not paying attention because the glass is paper thin and I hate to think what would happen if it was consumed.
It's too bad because I did love the fact that the glasses didnt sweat, and they held ice for much much longer than regular glassware.
However, all 4 of mine broke one by one from the same thing: ice pushing on the glass from the inside. If you pour liquid into the glass first, then put your ice in second, your ice will tend to insta-freeze together. With most glassware, this is no problem since a simple tap on the ice will break this weak bond apart. However, since these glasses are wider on top than most of the lower 75%, a simple tap (I'm talking VERY LIGHT TAP) is enough to exert enough outward pressure on the inner lining of the glass to crack or break it.
When it breaks, its very quiet. Your only clue to that there are glass shards in your drink is that the liquid immediately fills the void between the two layers.
If I could rate these zero stars I would. Don't waste your money, use a coaster.
