Great seltzer once you know the trick August 12, 2008 According to the manual - you charge with the 1st CO2 cartridge then wait 5 minutes and charge with the second cartridge.
I usually fill the siphon with cold water, charge with 1 cartridge, shake for 10 or so seconds. Stick it in the fridge then sometime later shake it for another 10 or so seconds then charge with the 2nd cartridge. That seems to work fine. No spill out of gas.
What I particularly like about this siphon compared to others I own is that the Liss dispenses all the soda. It doesn't end up with a half glass full in the bottom that you have to pour out.

i likes me the fizzy water May 31, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I usually read online reviews before buying a product. I even pulled up old road tests for the 35-year-old motorcycle I recently purchased on eBay.
So I was a little concerned when, seconds after purchasing this product, I saw negative/mixed mentions here on Amazon.
The thin plastic operating lever does appear weak. But it works. The rate and intensity of water flow can be finely controlled. If you press gently, it doesn't come flying out like a fire hose. It operates quite well.
Also, you can buy spare parts for it if you do something stupid and break it.
I don't think there's a magical way to get a single CO2 canister to make 2 liters of water fizzy. You will need to charge it with 2. The laws of physics apparently still work as expected in our universe.
It does take time for the carbon dioxide to permeate through the water. So if you're one of those morbidly obese Americans who expect everything to work perfectly and instantly and cost only 99 cents - then go to the corner store and buy a bottle of Canada Dry or Schweppes for a buck (or two) and haul it back home.
It will be instantly fizzy and goes well with an entire box of Malomars at one sitting.
I like that the bottle is stainless steel: non-corrosive and all. I like the fizzy water that comes out of it.
Between this and a 5-stage reverse osmosis water filtration system, there will be no more hauling of plastic water jugs from store to apartment.
The best thing about this product is that its cool and makes people happy when they see it doing its thing.

The item arrived in fine condition, on time, and is just what I expected. The large volume makes it much easier to use.
Wish I bought the 1-liter version! February 11, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've had aluminum selzer chargers before and would not buy another one -- they always corrode at the threaded seal, and probably inside as well. That's why I bought this stainless charger. Overall I am pleased with it, but from the beginning I've haven't been able to charge the bottle with two CO2 cylinders, one after the other, as directed in the instructions. If I fill the bottle with water and try to do this, the second charger does not fully enter the bottle -- there is apparently not enough room -- and so the overpressurized bottle releases the "excess" CO2 via some sort of safety pressure-release feature (I am well aware of the fill tube in the bottle, which ensures air space for the CO2 and prevents overfilling with water; even if I fill with water as directed and then pour out water, I still can't get two chargers into the bottle). I've found the way around this and now have a comfortable routine. I fill the bottle with water, charge it with ONE CO2 cylinder, and place the bottle in the refrigerator. Later, after the CO2 has dissolved into the water, and after I take one glass of selzer from the bottle, I charge the bottle with the second CO2 cylinder. This works fine for me, and the 2-liter capacity is really great to have. But it does bug me a little that the bottle can't take two chargers initially. I also have a vintage Czech glass seltzer bottle (with wire mesh casing) that I use along with this stainless bottle (both are always in service on the door of the refrigerator...) This glass bottle is very reliable, but the one-liter capacity is limiting. So, if you don't have patience for the above process to accomodate the quirks of the 2-liter stainless bottle, I suggest getting the 1-liter version of it. The quality and design are good, though I do agree with another reviewer that the lever handle seems a little flimsy. But after a year of use, mine is fine and I have confidence that it will last if not mistreated.
Lowering your carbon footprint with a soda charger December 2, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this because I like soda water and mineral water but was realizing just how crazy it was to import water in glass bottles from Italy. Pros - the unit is stainless so I don't worry about aluminum leaching into the water. Cons - the squirter mechanism is really cheap feeling - ISI is much more substantial. Overall, okay product and seems to be holding up.
