| Customer Reviews:
It must be an acquired taste August 9, 2005 I grew up eating rice balls with "sour" plums in the middle and it was a real treat when my mom made them. As kids, we'd crack open the hard shell to eat the pickled seed inside as well. All the kids in our family will sneak a sour plum when no one is watching. We also eat it as a condiment with other pickled vegetables and hot rice. Also, when I'm not feeling well, I make a soupy gruel of white rice and eat a sour plum with it. It's a comfort food in my house. In terms of quality, Welpac sour plums in a jar are considered the best in our family and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find. I'm happy to find it on-line.
Dear God in heaven, help me please now! January 2, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can you take it? Can you? Really? 'Cause if you can't, don't buy these. They are serious: Salt and alum and salt and alum and maybe a little plum -- but for sure, there's salt and alum. Serious salt -- and I like salt. So be sure to order a mirror to go with them, because the twisted pucker your face will go into will be worth the price, plus shipping. Buy these, and buy a mirror. I dare you. I hear the wily Japanese eat a couple a day to start out their days -- detox the liver and all that. I'd rather give up drinking (and that ain't gonna happen). Good luck.
