Dates (Phoenix Dacrylifera) have long been a common food item in the Middle East where they originated as a cultivated crop over 5,000 years ago. Today, dates are also grown in the U.S. They were introduced to California by Spanish missionaries in the 1700s. Dates contain no cholesterol and they are a good source of fiber. Our Dates are jumbo-sized Dates and there are 16 to 19 Dates per pound. The usual availability of Jumbo Dates is September to January. No sulfites. Medjool Dates are sun-dried.
