Product Description We are pleased to introduce this luxurious chocolate bar, courtesy of the renowned Don Giuseppe Puglisi. Hailing from Modica (Sicily), Puglisi's chocolate bars are still made in the Aztec tradition, creating a rustic, brittle chocolate untainted by modern machinery and artificial flavorings. The chocolate's unique opaque patina comes from its cold production process which maintains the full flavor of each ingredient. This patina look is actually the normal appearance of the chocolate. Delicate looking and speckled with reddish blooms, the brittle chocolate literally crumbles upon disturbance. This texture has incredible mouthfeel appeal, and is the antithesis of the overtly creamy, mass-produced chocolate we are used to here in the US. The flavor has the rustic simplicity that many of Italy's cheeses are justly famous for. Thanks to a painstaking handmade manufacturing process, the quality of the ingredients themselves are allowed to shine through. A real discovery! Available in 8 flavors: Classic, Chili, Coffee, Cinnamon, Ginger, Bergamotto (Orange Essence), Pistachio, or Vanilla.

With a limited Italian vocabulary, will "SUMMA CUM LAUDE" do? April 17, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is where inspired 'clicks' take the lucky Amazon.com shopper! Just follow your chocolate-coffee impulses (and nose) and you, too, will arrive in the Land of delights.
I owe this discovery to Reviewer SMP, thank you very much! The blurb says: "The brittle chocolate crumbles upon disturbance" ?? It is bound to be disturbed rather often by my greedy lips. Reviewer mcHaiku is a push-over for "rustic simplicity' - - that is how we live, even if it's difficult to put into words . . . I somehow picture those pigs snuffling for truffles (Morels are now 'in season' in Brown County INDIANA). 'Pistachio' is another scrumptious flavor ever & always worth a try. The incredible "mouthfeel appeal" (!) does not have that off-putting greasy first impression so many other candies plead guilty to (even without reading the small print). REMEMBER, mothers are the common ingredient shared by humankind . . . & Mothers Day is definitely on my candy horizon.
