spigot has broken twice December 4, 2008 I got my first hot chocolate maker about 3 years ago, and loved it, although it was a pain to try to keep it clean of old milk when it can't be immersed or put in the dishwasher. Then, after less than a year, the spigot handle snapped off. Eventually I got another one, and less than a year later, the spigot handle snapped off again! Also, this time, no matter what i do (scrubbing with toothbrushes, vinegar baths, etc), I cannot get the old milk smell out of it. When I look in the spigot, there is old crusty milk inside that i can't reach to get out. Gross! I'll be trying a different brand of hot chocolate maker next time. The only reason this doesn't get one star is because for the first few months of each machine, i was really happy with it.
We use it more than I expected November 30, 2008 I bought a Cocoa Latte 2 years ago, just as a novelty. I thought we might use it a few times, then it would sit for a while till I took it to the thrift store. But SURPRISE. My kids use it almost every day in cold weather, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a day. There are measurement lines on the side of the pitcher so it is easy for them to make just the amount that they want. Our spigot does drip a little. We just put a paper towel underneath it. Cleanup is pretty fast. Our cocoa does not get frothy, but it may just be the brand we use. Sometimes the little spinner inside the pitcher won't start up without some help. It could have a more powerful motor. But overall, we really like this machine and it gets a lot of use. If this one stops working I plan on getting another one.
Well..... November 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I first got this item I was actually looking at some other similar items like the Keurig's and Tassimos. I wanted something that could do both coffee as well as a variety of other drinks. However with the price of the Tassimo and Keurigs I couldn't justify spending the extra $$. I bought this item and I LOVED it! The quality of drinks had increased with the purchase of this little machine.
Well, unfortunatley one thing I did have an issue with was afetr about 4-5 months I started noticing a greenish, greasy substance underneath the pitcher where it goes onto the base. I noticed that my drinks wouldn't blend. My husband took the pitcher apart and cleaned it up, and now it's good as new. However that isn't really something I would want to have to deal with after 4-5 months of use.
This year I got it out for the dooler weather and shortly upon getting it out I would notice a foul odor coming from what I thought was my sink. I tried pouring bleach in the sink to get rid of the smell, but to no avail. Finally I found the culprit. It was the latte maker! I was using it to make milk steamers. However even after thorough scrubbings and cleanings, the smell kept returning. I am now looking at getting a replacement although I'm not sure what that may be.
Perhaps this item is best intended for water based drinks, but if you plan on making something with a milk base, I'd suggest you continue looking.
i love this product!!!!!!!!!! November 24, 2008 I use the coco maker so much i buy a new one every couple years. Nice price, you can put the leftover in the fridge, 4 cups is perfect for 4 people. I even use it at an outdoor event every year for 6 weekends.
A plus, kids can work the maker on their own. They have markings on the dispenser to aid them in amounts.

Wonder Machine! November 16, 2008 This is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use, makes frothy, hot drinks. I have had no problems with it as other reviewers have stated. I use it every day. Beats paying high prices at the store for a cappuccino!
