best blender I've ever owned January 8, 2009 I got this blender for Christmas and I love it. Obvious good quality and performs flawlessly. I love the very simple settings, which are automatically programmed to pulse correctly. Much easier to use than standard blenders with a zillion small buttons.
I don't know what to think about the user who's blender "blew up" and the user whose blender motor failed; I will report back if that happens to me. I have read the entire instruction manual; it does warn not to process heavy loads longer than 10 seconds. Any blender motor will burn out eventually under those circumstances but it's always possible a couple of lemons made it through the manufacturing process. I hope that isn't the case with this product.
Good power but disappointed in blending performance January 4, 2009 Purchased this blender after two bearing failures on two different Cuisinart blenders over a two year period. Make smoothies almost every morning using fresh and frozen fruit and the Cuisinart was marginal on power when using frozen fruit. The Breville 800BLXL has sufficient power but has a greater tendency to create an air pocket around the blade mechanism than the Cuisinart. This then requires stopping the machine and poking something down to the bottom to release the air. If it wasn't for this deficiency I would give it a full 5 star rating.
Amazing Blender! Love it! December 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I went on a weight loss plan that consisted of smoothies and such. That's all I bought this for but now I use it all the time for soups and making drinks at parties, etc. Super powerful...I'm surprised other people that reviewed it had any problems.....it might be that they blended for too long and burnt out their motors???? They were probably used to their old blenders that took forever!
This is a dream....I not only love this blender but the other 2 Breville products I own. And Breville Customer Service is awesome! I called about my coffee maker once and they were so helpful. In the end it turned out it was my user error! Yet they were very understanding and spent time with me on the phone.
Anyway, I love this thing and can't imagine being without it!
Best Blender- Hands Down August 29, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this blender. I don't have to shake it, hit it, or any of the things I've had to do with previous blenders in order to get a large amount of ice and/or frozen fruit blended properly. I personally know someone who had this blender's motor stop running after a few uses- but mine works great. I make daquiris, smoothies, milk shakes, slushes, or just shaved ice with ease.
Best Blender I Have Ever Used August 9, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Like others, I was skeptical after reading reviews here but decided to give it a try. I have used this blender for 5 months now at my Ice Cream store to make smoothies and have been happy with it since day one. The plastic container is perfect for commercial use as it is very durable and is actually the reason I went for the 1000w over the highly rated 750w model with the glass container. I add all ingredients to the blender and press the smoothie button. This blender has torque sensors on the motor and will adjust the speed and time based on consistency to provide a perfect smoothie every time. It just shuts off when done, about 1 minute. YES, it will start and stop on it's own to chop, mix, and blend as stated in the manual. If you are using ice instead of frozen yogurt just start with the ice button and it will chop your ice into a fine powder. This blender is heavy duty and I highly recommend it.
