Amazon.com If you believe everything you hear, Curtis is 50 Cent's bid to be hip-hop king--the rumor goes that he issued it the same day Kanye West released his Graduation CD to spawn a sales race and thus, a) establish superiority, or b) retire with his head hung low. But here's what might not have occurred to 50: Given enough talent and a fully loaded speed-dial--the kind that can raise Timbaland, Akon, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem faster than the sickest rapper can stitch together a verse--it's possible for two diabolically good discs to drop the same day. Forgetting the Kanye competition for a moment, Curtis might come up short in a race with its creator's other albums--the rawness and reach of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' isn't here. But certain cultural moments (who would refute that the release Get Rich
was one?) can't be replicated, and what Curtis lacks in credible grit, it more than makes up for in finesse. Never let it be said that you can't be fierce and flow at the same time: "I Get Money" glides back to the old school in sound--there's a house party happening behind this track--but sends out a modern message, "I'll Still Kill," with Akon, underscores 50's continued thug-hood with a lethal hook, and "Follow My Lead," with the smoothie Robin Thicke, is a finger-popper worth 100 plays for its sly mood alone. May the best rapper, if there is one, keep rapping. --Tammy La Gorce

THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINT EVER???? MAYBE......... January 3, 2009 I know alot of people we're like, yeah we told you so, all well. Curtis was not a failure sales wise, even though he did go platinum he did not go multi like both previous albums. Is that because the masses heard the previous album which was not that good and suspected the same with CURTIS, or was it because people rather of downloaded it than go spend they dollar's, music sale's were and still are down. Who know's, it was probably a little of everything. To me his first single "Straight To The Bank" was one of his best song's and no one seemed to really like it, which confused me because it was a good single, then "Amusement Park" dropped and people liked it more which confused me again, because it sucked. He dropped six single's all together including "Follow My Lead", "Ayo Technology", "I Get Money" and "I'll Still Kill" which we're all good except "Follow My Lead". Now here is the problem, those single's are just about all the best song's on the album the rest is pretty much dismissable, except maybe 1 or 2 song's. So once again he dropped a half & half album. But the song's are pretty much unlistenable to where as before with THE MASSACRE they we're not that bad to we're you wanted to skip the whole song and that's how some of these song's come off. Even a much hyped sale's battle with Kanye West couldn't help him as Kanye surpassed him in the end, could it be that the people are just tired of 50 and his antic's???? So once again let me break it down with the good and the bad, sorry 50 but step ya game up. -----THE GOOD----- My Gun Go Off Man Down I'll Still Kill I Get Money Ayo Technology Straight to the Bank Curtis 187 Touch the Sky
-----THE BAD----- Come & Go Follow My Lead Movin on Up Amusement Park Fully Loaded Clip Peep Show Fire All of Me
Curtis is the Best album. November 28, 2008 I love this album. Please go out and buy this album. Don't write mean reviews about this album. You are weird that you don't like this album. Please make this album a classic like the other 50 Cent albums.
Ok, nothing great. October 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this cd on release day. I had been a fan of his "Get Rich or Die Trying" album, but wasn't too impressed with "The Massacre," apart from a few good songs.
I was extremely disappointed with this cd at first. I found it extremely bland and nearly unlistenable. After listening through it once, I literally shelved it till a few days ago. Upon a 2nd listen, the album is actually pretty good. I'm not sure what made me change my mind, but I now listen to it a lot more often.
It's nothing special, but it's not terrible. 3 out of 5 is what it gets.
Now, for a real cd, check out T.I.'s "Paper Trail" if you haven't already. THAT'S an album.
not bad but not good enough June 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the only thing wrong with this album is its just like the first two. every song is about the same thing and its time for fifty to go in a new direction. if some one else would of droped this album it would get better reviews.
