Excellent for what it advertises, great for much more. January 4, 2009 I have had this mug for about two weeks now, and admit that I am quite impressed. Its autoseal feature is truly unprecedented. You can literally play football with this mug, and not a drop of your beverage will escape. This feature is incredibly useful, but is not the reason I love this mug.
The reason I gave this mug 5 stars is not the Autoseal feature, but the insulation of the mug. You can keep ice water cold for a whole day, and I have been able to keep coffee hot for upwards of 3 hours, which is amazing. The insulation comes in the form of a contoured, sexy, double paneled stainless steel body.
This is a great mug and I recommend it to anyone, whether you are a constant traveler or working student.
LOVE IT! January 4, 2009 Great mug! It really is spill proof! I rolled the mug around, tossed it on the floor, and turned it upside down...nothing came out! Keeps coffee hot and ice water cold for a long time. I filled the mug with ice water, and it still hadn't melted 8 hours later. Easy to clean. Great design! I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
average to below average December 31, 2008 Just purchased and am a bit disappointed. Keeps coffee hot for one hour, not 4. Also, the rubber top does give hot beverages a nasty rubber flavor as other reviewers have noted. It's nice looking and definitely spill proof, but overall I think it's way too pricey for the performance it gives.
The best mugs ever! December 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So I have been buying Starbucks mugs forever- I can't stand the way they spill and don't close correctly, and leak out when you are walking. These truly don't leak- They can tip over, and best of all they hold my warm liquids like my morning coffee for 6 hours. I am totally impressed and they are a little pricy on here, got 2 at Costco for less then $20 :) But regardless worth the money.. I am a total Promoter!
Best mug, until you drop it too hard December 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A friend was so impressed with this style mug he bought 20 of them at a big box store and gave one to me. Now I'm hooked. I never realized how great a truly "unspillable" mug was. Even when full, just toss it in a bag or on a car seat any which way and no problem. I didn't realize how rare that ability is in travel mugs and what a helpful luxury it is. I don't want to ever go back to mugs that leak from their air vent when you turn them over or on their side, or dribble in the least when you swig.
However, I recently dropped the mug and lid on concrete a couple times and now the thing leaks miserably and is useless except as a tech-looking flower vase. I guess I cracked part of the plastic assembly in the lid. A tragedy that I had to report to my friend who was sympathetic. He knows the problem, having dropped one of his. Still, like him, I'm going to get another one and treat it with more respect and hope that the company can improve the fragility problem in future models.
I find I can clean the lid fine by running hot water through it before anything gets hard and crusty. But being able to disassemble the lid mechanism for easy deep and absolutely sure cleaning would also be an improvement. (I would gladly pay a premium for a model with a stainless steel inner lid mechanism that could be disassembled.) In the meantime this is as close to being a perfect non-spilling travel mug as I can find.
A frickin' coffee mug! This is something I never imagined I would care much about, let alone write gushing reviews for, until my friend got me addicted and now I'm hooked. That's the modern world for you. Insane!
