Amazon.com Review First introduced in 1936 by the Homer Laughlin China Company and reissued in 1986 to mark the 50th anniversary of the line, colorful Fiestaware has been a collectable dinnerware favorite for generations. While original Fiestaware can fetch prices as high as $6,000 for a rare piece in a rare color, new Fiestaware is affordable, features the same great styling as the originals, and, unlike older pieces, has a 100 percent lead-free glaze. With the signature Fiestaware concentric rings around the plate rim, this plate complements other Fiestaware dinnerware and accessories. The glaze is nonporous and durable, but some stainless-steel flatware may leave marks on the plate. These marks can be removed with a nonabrasive cleanser. --Emily Wolf
Product Description Perhaps the name "Fiesta" was chosen in 1936 because the famous collection comes in nine festive colors. The collection's solid colors all coordinate with one another, so feel free to mix and match. After all, what's a fiesta without mixing it up a bit? All pieces are microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. Made of lead-free ceramic in USA.

Durable, American, but mark up too easily December 17, 2008 My family of five has been using Fiestaware since 2002 or so. I really like that the product is American made and safe. The plates are also very durable: no chips or breaks at all in the last 5-6 years.
The downside: stainless steel flatware (the most commonly used kind) leaves all kinds of unsightly gray marks in the glaze. This is especially noticeable on the white and other light color plates. It can only be removed with some effort, using either Pfaltzgraff's stoneware cleaner (hard to find, but recommended by Homer Laughlin) or (I've heard) Bar Keeper's Friend.
The marking has led me to switch to Pottery Barn's dinnerware, which is very similarly priced (although made in Thailand and China), but seems to show no marks after years of use.
WOW what a deal December 15, 2008 Fiestaware is a wonderful product and with the price that Amazon set, it is a wonderful deal. The only suggestion that I have is that my 8 plates came 2 at a time in a small box inside a big one, not very green, but the plates all arrived in one piece.
A colorful, sensible choice September 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a color freak; I love visual stimulus, so I am naturally drawn to Fiesta ware on the basis of the stunning array of colors offered. I've chosen a different color for each type of tableware and the result is a wonderful palette of dishes on my table. You can't go wrong with the look of Fiesta ware; it's a classic.
You also can't go wrong for quality here. It's lead and cadmium free, which is a very important issue with items which come into contact with food, particularly acidic food. While lead glazes on tableware made in the USA are generally considered safe, it's best not to have any lead in the glazes at all. And in imported dishes, the issue becomes even more serioius. A good many very attractive, cheaper brands of tableware are imported from countries, like China, which have less stringent policies on things like lead and cadmium. I'd rather not take the chance. Even if the glazes weren't an issue, these dishes are made to withstand a good deal of abuse. Mine have been piled, dropped, shoved, and put through any number of dishwasher cycles, and they still look as good as new.
Seriously, I'm sold on Fiesta ware because it's beautiful, strong and safe. How can you do better for your table?
From now on only Fiestaware! January 25, 2008 I bought for everyday use most items of the Santa Fe Collection by Pacific Rim Imports wich went out of production... As my plates are very colorful, I've decided to mismatch them with solid color plates in all the colors displayed by Santa Fe's design and of course, for that purpose nothing is better than Fiestaware! Got 7 wonderful plates which colors matched perfectly my Santa Fe ones; one of each color. When we have guests, they love that colorful pile of plates displayed on the buffet. It's very festive looking. And quality is writen everywhere in these plates. I'm very happy with my purchase. From now on, only Fiestaware!
entertainment ware January 20, 2008 I have these plates in multiple colors and this one is a favorite. I use them as interesting and colorful dishes for entertaining.
